Firefighters from multiple department responded to the scene of a recent fire at an auto dealership in Colonie, New York, and Sidewinder Photography shared some pics and video from the scene.

Firefighters from the Latham Fire Department along with West Albany, Shaker Road, Verdoy, Fuller Road, Boght, Town of Colonie Duty Crew, and Colonie EMS responded to Northway Toyota at 727 Louden Road in the town of Colonie for multiple calls for a reported structure fire.

The first-arriving chief on scene reported he had heavy fire pushing from the front of the building on the A-B side of the building. Engine 415 arrived on scene along with Truck 4, followed right behind by 449. Firefighters from 415 forced entry into the building, where they encountered heavy fire conditions and proceeded to knock down the bulk of the heavy fire.

Because the building was not sprinklered in that area, the fire was able to get into the ceiling and the roof. As firefighters proceeded to knock down the fire, dark, heavy brown smoke started to pour from the roof area above where the fire was. Truck 4’s crew deployed to the roof for ventilation operations and discovered they had a significant fire load in the roof area.

After heavy fire vented through the roof, command requested the all-out for everyone in the building.Truck 11 set up on that corner of the building and deployed their ladder and started a master stream operation to knock down the heavy fire, but with a hidden section in the roof area the fire hid itself and caused problems for firefighters to get at it. Firefighters from Truck 11 started to cut the side of the building to gain access to that area. As soon as firefighters opened up that roof area, they were able to knock down the remaining fire.

Extremely cold temperatures caused the mist from the hoses to form an icy glaze all over the parking lot, creating a slippery situation for firefighters. The quick actions of the duty crew and volunteer firefighters of the town of Colonie prevented the fire situation from being a lot worse. No injuries were reported and no one was in the building at the time of the fire. The town of Colonie fire services is currently investigating the fire at this time and do not have a cause of the fire.
