LEVA Annual Conference Features Digital Asset Management Expo

The Law Enforcement and Emergency Services Video Association (LEVA) will feature a Digital Asset Management Expo during its 2012 LEVA Annual Training Conference, which runs Oct. 22-26 at the Bahia Resort Hotel in San Diego. The five-day conference will feature a full schedule of hands-on workshops and interactive educational sessions, plus networking opportunities and product demonstrations.

Sponsored by Microception, MediaSolv, L-3 Mobile-Vision, and Ocean Systems, the Digital Asset Management Expo will be co-located with LEVA’s exhibit hall on Oct. 23 and will spotlight a variety of technologies. According to LEVA president Det. Blaine Davison, Norman Oklahoma Police Department, the expo is central to the conference’s overall focus on digital multimedia evidence (DME).

“Video and audio technologies have become invaluable for law enforcement, from in-car and body-worn video to interview rooms and covert surveillance. But all this potential evidence is worthless if you don’t know how to use the equipment or you don’t have the proper protocols in place,” said Davison. “LEVA’s 23rd annual conference delivers the training to help departments select the right tools and improve their operating procedures.”

A number of hands-on workshops will be offered during the conference, focusing on DME laboratory best practices, DSLRs for crime/critical incident documentation, and courtroom testimony for forensic video analysts. Two additional workshops will focus on new Adobe Creative Suite 6 workflows, and the FBI will present a workshop on reverse projection. Interactive sessions will discuss DME recovery for first responders, computer forensics for forensic video analysts, and biometrics.

Daily room cost will be at U.S. federal lodging rates. For travel information, as well as the conference schedule and pricing options, visit leva.org.
