The oldest fire station in Britain closed along with nine others in an effort to save money.
A report in The Guardian (http://bit.ly/1gpT0U6) noted that firefighters were in tears as they walked out of the Clerkenwell station in London for the last time. An effort has begun to save the historic building from being converted to apartments.
The Clerkenwell station is more than 140 years old. The London Fire Brigade is also cutting 552 firefighter jobs and reducing the number of fire engines by 14.
