Long Island (NY) Fire Chief Dies of Cardiac Arrest

A fire chief on Long Island has passed away after responding to a call, according to a report from the U.S. Fire Administration.

On Tuesday, November 19, 2019, at approximately 1900hrs., Chief Darryl Rollins, 42, of the North Amityville (NY) Volunteer Fire Company responded to a possible residential fire.  He returned home and was found unresponsive early the next morning.  He was immediately taken to the hospital where he passed away from a cardiac arrest.

He had 11 years of service.

To date, 52 firefighter fatalities have been reported to the USFA in 2019.
