MA Firefighter Dies Suddenly While Responding to Call

A Quincy (MA) firefighter died suddenly Monday afternoon while responding to an emergency call.

John Austin, 37, a city firefighter since 2002, became unresponsive at the firehouse and was later pronounced dead at a local medical center, reported the Patriot Ledger (http://bit.ly/1502SxP).

An investigation into the exact cause of Austin’s death was underway. At least one colleague said there was no indication of the firefighter having a preexisting medical condition.
