Firefighters restrained a knife-wielding suspect yesterday during a response to a suspected arson fire in Boston’s Brighton neighborhood.
According to the Boston Herald (http://bit.ly/NU10zq), the combative man is accused of intentionally setting fire to an elderly woman’s apartment, where police found her dead and burned inside her smoke-filled kitchen.
Firefighters responding to the 8:54 a.m. fire found the woman dead in her fourth-floor apartment’s kitchen. As crews extinguished the flames, one firefighter encountered the suspect in the living room. The suspect reportedly attempted to stab the firefighter and threatened to jump out the window. When the man turned his back on firefighters, they disarmed and restrained him for police.
