Girl Jumps to Escape Mahwah (NJ) Condo Fire

A nine-year-old girl jumped from a third-floor balcony to escape a raging condo fire in Mahwah, New Jersey, according to a news report.

The Daily Voice reports that police officers thought they’d evacuated all of the residents from a the afternoon condominium fire when they spotted the girl on the balcony and encouraged her to jump to them. The girl then jumped down to the waiting officers.

The fire broke out on the second floor just before 4:30 p.m. and quickly spread upward and out toward the exterior stairway, the report said.
