Man Found on Fire on Top of NYC-Bound Train Dies

A 21-year-old man who was found on fire on top of a New York-bound passenger train has died, reports the Hartford Courant.

Brian McClellen, of Cleveland (OH), died at about 12:45 p.m. Monday, said a Metropolitan Transportation Authority spokesman.

McClellen was being treated at Westchester Medical Center. He was listed in critical condition earlier on Monday, said hospital spokesman David Billig. Citing medical privacy laws, Billig said he would not elaborate about the nature of McClellan’s injuries or treatment.

“The MTA Police Department is investigating why he was on top of the train and how he got there, and we will have updates as their investigation proceeds,” Donovan said.

McClellen suffered burns on 85 percent of his body, Donovan said. He said there is no indication that he “jumped” onto the train, as some reports had suggested.
