Man Killed, Three Firefighters Injured in NY Apartment Fire

A man died and three firefighters were injured yesterday in an apartment fire in the Borough Park section of Brooklyn, New York.

The New York Post ( reports that the 60-year-old victim was found unconscious in his study, and succumbed to his injuries at an area hospital.

The paper says 135 firefighters responded to the fire. The three firefighters sustained nonlife-threatening injuries. One was treated for minor burns and the other two suffered “strains and sprains,” a fire official told reporters.

The fire started on the third floor of the four-story corner building at 2:03 p.m. Firefighters contained the fire to a single apartment where the victim was found. A medical lab and clothing store in the building were both damaged from the two-alarm fire.
