The civilian HUMMER will gti to market with the same drive train, chassis, high-performance engine, and sturdy body as its military predecessor; in addition, safety ami luxury enhancements, including a commercially compatible 12-volt electrical system and conventional lighting, have been added. The American-designed and American-built HUMMER features four-wheel drive and all-independent suspension.

A full-color, six-page brochure describing Cummins Engine Company’s COMMAND N14310 ESP and N14-370 ESP engines is available. The brochure explains and illustrates how CELECT™ electronics, Cummins’ totally integrated engine control system, works with the new ESP engine technology to meet driver performance needs and fleet efficiency goals. On flat roads. ESP engines conserve fuel by sensing and delivering the amount of power needed; on a hill or in high wind, ESP automatically supplies added power to pull a truck up long hills and steep grades. Extra power is provided in or out of cruise control. According to the brochure, ESP engines can reduce shifting by up to 75 percent. The brochure also describes Cummins’ warranty programs.
