Minnesota Fire Department Members Put on Leave After Nursing Home Death

The chief of the Maplewood (MN) Fire Department and five other employees were placed on administrative leave in the wake of a fatal incident at a nursing home, according to reports.

The move came Monday after a complaint was filed with the city, according to the Pioneer Press. On August 7, Maplewood medics reportedly responded to a female patient at an area nursing home who had vomited in her sleep and was unconscious. Reports indicated that, as paramedics were in the process of preparing to transport the patient, a relative asked that they abandon resuscitation efforts.

The woman was transported back to a room at the nursing home, where she died 20 minutes later, according to a report from the Star-Tribune.
