Marc Revere, CFO, Fire Chief of Novato Fire Protection District, was honored by receiving the first Ronny Jack Coleman Leadership Legacy Award. President Randy Bruegman and Retired Fire Chief Ronny Coleman presented the award during the Center for Public Safety Excellence’s annual awards ceremony held during Fire-Rescue International in Chicago, Illinois.
Chief Revere has been in the Fire Service for 31 years; the past 12 as Fire Chief, and is a recognized leader not only within the state of California, but nationally as well. He has served on the International Association of Fire Chief’s (IAFC) Professional Development Committee (PDC) since 2000, assisted in the writing of the Officer Development Handbook, and co-developed the Center for Public Safety Excellence’s (CPSE) National Mentoring Program. In addition, he is a member of the Light Weight Construction Committee to review light weight construction through Underwriters Laboratory. He has served as the President of the California Fire Chief’s Association, Chairman of the Professional Development Committee for Santa Clara County Fire Chief’s Association, President of Southern California Training Officers, and President of the Foothill Fire Chief’s of Monterey Park.
He has been instrumental not only in the state of California, but throughout the United States and the world in promoting professional development. He continues to seek educational opportunities to insure his skills are leading edge. In 2008, Chief Revere attended the JFK School of Government at Harvard University and in 2007 and 2008, attended the UK/US Symposium. He received his Chief Fire Officer (CFO) designation in 2003, is a certified Fire Officer through the California State Fire Marshal’s Office, and is also a graduate of the National Fire Academy Executive Fire Officer (EFO) program. He recently led his organization through the Commission on Fire Accreditation International (CFAI) self-assessment and became an accredited agency in August of 2009.
Chief Revere has earned a Bachelor of Arts in Management from University of Redlands, Fire Protection Administration Certification from San Diego State University, and an Associate of Arts in Fire Administration from Harbor College.
The Ronny Jack Coleman Leadership Legacy Award recognizes an individual from an accredited agency or the Chief Officer Designation echelon for superior leadership and actions that have elevated the International Fire and Emergency Service (IFES) profession through mentoring, teaching and sharing outstanding contributions; and who has exhibited the consistent dedication of renewal qualities and commitment to fire service professionalism by demonstrating a devotion to help raise the International Fire and Emergency Service to greater heights.
