Maryland Teen Arrested for Setting Speed Camera Box on Fire

Howard County police have arrested a teenager in connection with the burning of speed camera equipment, reports The Associated Press.

Police say they were called to the 14000 block of Burntwoods Road on Thursday around 4:45 a.m. for a report of a speed camera box on fire. An investigation determined the fire appeared to be intentionally set and may be connected with a similar incident in 2013.

Police say they set up surveillance and on Saturday morning they observed a man driving by the camera several times, then parking and approaching on foot, carrying an ax and a bottle of accelerant. Police converged on the subject, who fled. Police say they identified the man as 19-year-old Connor Lynn Eash of Glenelg and arrested him.

It was not clear if Eash had an attorney.
