A massive fire damaged three businesses and an apartment building in historic downtown Shelbyville (KY), reports WHAS 11.
The fire broke out around 4:30 a.m. Wednesday at 7th and Street. Hours later, the fire suddenly rekindled.
“This time of year and this type of weather is very hazardous for firefighters and luckily no injuries,” Chris Spaulding, Assistant Fire Chief of Shelbyville’s Fire Department said.
The fire started in a vacant building under the renovations and spread to the Mexican restaurant, Creative Spirits Counseling Center, a thrift shop and an apartment building on the second floor.
Shelbyville’s Mayor Thomas Hardesty spent the day encouraging people in the town.
“We hope that the owners of the business can rebuild in the same spots,” Mayor Hardesty said.
