Massive Fire Strikes Farm Supply Store in IL

According to a report from ABC7, a massive extra-alarm fire erupted at a farm supply store in Shorewood, Illinois, on Black Road Tuesday morning.

The fire broke out at around 4:30 a.m.. at the Tri-County Stockdale Company, which sells animal feed, yard care supplies, and fertilizer.

Troy Fire Protection District Chief Andy Doyle said that air quality was the main concern, considering the store sells fertilizer and pesticides.

Concerns from these fumes eventually forced Shorewood police to issue a shelter-in-place order for two miles north and northeast of the fire. By 8:30 a.m., they lifted the order.

Doyle said the fire destroyed four buildings.

No injuries have been reported. Some chickens escaped the premises, but it is not known if all the livestock in the store got out.

Black Road, between River and County Line Roads, is now closed off.
