Two people were injured today in a oil fire that sent black plumes of smoke over Phoenix, Arizona.
A report on azcentral.com (http://bit.ly/1mAeqUz) indicated that employees were off-loading used motor oil from a tanker onto a semi were injured when the oil caught fire.
A man with severe burns ran out into the street screaming for help shortly after the fire ignited, which is what drew Phoenix firefighters to the scene. That person and another critically injured person were transported to an area burn center.
The first crews to respond to the scene sprayed water on the fire, which reacted with the oil and caused more explosions. Hazmat specialists were called in; foam was used to control the fire and vapors.
The flames shot as high as 110 feet in the air when the fire was at its peak.
