Mayday, Firefighter Injured in Kansas City

One firefighter suffered second-degree burns at a huge house fire Sunday in Kansas City, Missouri.

Captain Charlie Cashen, one of the first firefighters to arrive on scene, reportedly was burned when he went to the front of the residence. He issued a Mayday call, resulting in the evacuation of the structure, according to a report from the Kansas City Star (

By 11 p.m., crews still had not found a person believed missing in the house. Around 7 p.m., after a partial roof collapse, crews called off an inside search, according to the report.
