Mayday, New Hampshire Firefighters Escape Injury in 2-Alarm Fire

Firefighters became trapped and issued a Mayday during a two-alarm fire that displaced nine people last night in Franklin, New Hampshire, according to a report.

The Union Leader reported that firefighters trapped on the second floor during firefighting operations were helped out by an experienced, seasoned Franklin Fire Department officer. After the Mayday was cleared, firefighters employed an exterior attack due to rapid fire spread and deteriorating conditions, according to the report.

The incident occurred in a 2 1/2-story apartment building in streets behind the city’s center. The fire started in the back section of the building, and was confined mostly to the second floor.
