Four firefighters and three civilians were reportedly injured when a fire rescue vehicle crashed into a car while responding to a fire call in Glen Burnie, Maryland.
According to a report on the Baltimore-area CBS affiliate (http://cbsloc.al/wU6wIo), Anne Arundel County fire officials said the crash occurred Wednesday evening. Everyone involved in the crash sustained minor injuries.
The firefighters were heading to a call at a senior living facility. Other firefighters evacuated the structure and extinguished the fire in approximately 20 minutes. One fire victim was critically injured, sustaining burns on more than 70 percent of his body.
Firefighters often face as much danger while traveling to calls as at the fires themselves. For more tips on apparatus driving and safety, consider Rob Raheb’s On the Road Column in our fireEMS section HERE.
