Memorial Honoring Minnesota Fallen Firefighters Completed

A new memorial honoring Minnesota fallen firefighters has arrived at the State Capitol in St. Paul, reports KSTP 5.

The statue was escorted by 11 fire departments across town, and ended on the grounds of the State Capitol. It is the final piece of the new Minnesota Fallen Firefighter Memorial.

It will be situated in the middle of a pavilion, surrounded by 100 columns; each with names inscribed for the 208 Minnesota firefighters who died in the line of duty.

This year the Minnesota Fire Service Foundation has been working to identify more than 100 unidentified fallen firefighters since 1881.
