A volunteer firefighter with the Alpine Township (MI) Fire Department has been suspended for his use of lights on the road, according to news reports.. A civilan driver reported that he was being tailgated by an unmarked vehicle with flashing lights that, according to the civilian, didn’t seem to be the lights of a police cruiser. The civilian allowed the vehicle to pass, then called the local police to report the suspicious vehicle. Alpine Township Fire Chief Ron Christians says there was some sort of altercation between the two drivers, but the light use was unnecessary and against the department’s policy.
