More Than 2,000 Gallons of Fuel Spill at Miami (FL) Airport

Four people were taken to local hospitals after a substantial fuel spill at Miami International Airport on Wednesday.

The spill happened shortly before 3 p.m. at the Commercial Jet hangar, according to a report from the Miami Herald (http://bit.ly/yvivct). About 2,200 gallons leaked from an aircraft because of an unspecified mechanical issue.

Four people who were exposed to the fuel leak were taken to area hospitals for treatment, according to Miami-Dade (FL) Fire Rescue.

Few other details were available about the response, but the cleaned up fuel was turned over to environmental officials for disposal.
