Milwaukee’s proposed 2012 budget includes, among other things, a plan to sideline four firefighter companies per day, doubling the number of companies currently sidelined.
According to a news report in the Journal Sentinel, Mayor Tom Barrett plans to partly offset this cut by adding two new emergency medical squads, for a net reduction of 12 firefighters’ jobs by attrition. The head of the local union has protested the cuts.
