A resident of the Worcester (MA) triple-decker where a city firefighter died battling a fire last week has been found and was arrested on charges stemming from a parole violation. The investigation into the fire that killed Jon D. Davies Sr. is ongoing. Police questioned the suspect, 21-year-old Ronald Robbins, on what he knew about the fire. A $5,000 reward had been offered for information on the man’s whereabouts; an occupant was allegedly entrapped in the burning building, which spurred firefighters’ search of the structure. No body was recovered at the scene after the fire, however.
Robbins fled to a friends’ place in the days immediately after the fire, according to a report from the Telegram & Gazette (http://bit.ly/tHuTts).
Firefighter Davies will be laid to rest today, December 15. Thousands of firefighters from around the country are expected at his funeral.
