Mississippi Firefighter Injured After Explosion

A Gulfport (MS) firefighter was injured in an explosion while responding to s fire, reports WLOX 13.

Gulfport Fire Chief Michael Beyerstedt said his department was called to assist Harrison County firefighters battling a fire. A small explosion occurred as a firefighter entered the building.

“The blast blew him backwards several feet,” Beyerstedt said.” He appears to be okay, just shaken up.  He’s going to the hospital to be evaluated.”

Chief Beyerstedt said he believes the fire was in a shed or garage and is now under control.
