More Than 30 Displaced After Fire in Paterson (NJ) Destroys Multifamily Buildings

Theresa Braine – New York Daily News

Multiple families were forced from their homes on Tuesday as a four-alarm fire destroyed two residential buildings in Paterson, N.J.

While no injuries were reported, at least 31 people were displaced, according to reports. The Red Cross said on social media it was helping at least six families.

The cause of the fire was still being investigated Tuesday evening.

Arial footage from East 18th and Market Street showed the two multifamily buildings with blackened roofs and smoke pouring out as firefighters continued to battle the blaze.

Paterson fire officials were not available for comment on Tuesday, and the Red Cross did not comment beyond its initial tweet.
