MS Fire Captain Dies After Contracting COVID-19

A fire captain with the Sardis Volunteer Fire Department has passed away after contracting the coronavirus, according to the U.S. Fire Administration.

While on duty, Captain Guandes “Mook” Smith, 27, contracted COVID-19 at the fire department. He passed away from the virus during the early morning hours of Monday, February 8, 2021.
