MSA Honors Fire Service Heroes With Fireslayer of the Year Award

Every 17 seconds, a fire department responds to an emergency. Routinely, the brave men and women of the fire service put their own lives at risk in an attempt to save the lives of others in their community. MSA applauds their courage and dedication to the fire service. To honor those who perform selfless acts of bravery and serve as role models of commitment and integrity to their fellow firefighters, MSA presents the Fireslayer of the Year (FOTY) award.

To be eligible for the Fireslayer of the Year (FOTY) award, a firefighter must:

  • Have committed a selfless act of bravery and served as a role model of commitment and integrity to his or her fellow firefighters during 2002.
  • Have served as a full- or part-time firefighter (paid or volunteer) at any time during 2002.
  • Be nominated via the submission form on the MSAFire.com Web site by January 31, 2003.
  • Be willing to accept the FOTY award at a ceremony at the 2003 Fire Department Instructor’s Conference (FDIC) and participate in media interviews/publicity related to the FOTY award.

The 2003 FOTY winner will receive:
