McKinney (TX) Fire Department (MFD) Chief MARK WALLACEannounced his retirement effective June 1. He has served the city as fire chief for the last 10 years. Wallace joined the MFD in February 2001 and completed his 10 years on February 15. During his tenure, Wallace helped the department grow from three stations to eight, helped pass three bond elections, enabled the construction of a new public safety building, added more than 100 positions within the department, and helped reduce the ISO rating to Class 2, which saved McKinney businesses and residents more than $5 million a year. 

 Port Orange (FL) Fire & Rescue Chief THOMAS WEBERretired after 35 years in the fire service. Beginning his career in 1977 with the City of Sunrise, Florida, he then moved to Ft. Lauderdale, then became chief for the Town of Manchester, Connecticut. Weber became the chief for the City of Port Orange in September 2003. He served as president of the Connecticut Fire Chiefs’ Association (2002), and is the current president of the Florida Fire Chiefs’ Association. He was named Rotarian of the Year 2008 by the Port Orange-South Daytona Rotary Club and Florida Fire Chief of the Year 2008 by the State of Florida Cabinet and Florida Fire Chiefs’ Association.
