WADE H. ROBERTS, JR., has been appointed president of HALE PRODUCTS INC. He formerly served as vice presidentgroup executive of IDEX Corporation and president of the IDEX Strippit Division. Hale recently acquired IDEX, a manufacturer of proprietary fluid-handling and industrial products. In addition to his duties at Hale, Roberts will oversee IDEX’s Strippit and Vibratch business units.

WILLIAM CANE, a 30-year member of the Union Fire Company and Rescue Squad and a life member of the New Jersey State Firemen’s Association, has been appointed acting director of the NEW JERSEY DIVISION OF FIRE SAFETY.

TIMOTHY P. BUTTERS has been named associate director of the Chemical Manufacturers Association’s CHEMTREC00 Center, a 24-hour, nationwide emergency hazardous-materials hotline that provides technical assistance and emergency contact coordination during chemical emergencies. Butters, a certified command officer and emergency medical technician. is chief of the Burke Volunteer Fire and Rescue Department in Fairfax County, Virginia.

JOHN J. 0’GRADY, HALE VICE PRESIDENT, DIES IN ACCIDENT

On June 11, John “Jack” O’Grady, vice president of business development at Hale Products Inc. and president of the Fire Apparatus Manufacturers Association (FAMA), was killed in an automobile accident. He had been associated w ith Hale since 1973. He is survived by his wife Mary and three children.
