>> JACK McARTHUR was named the permanent chief of the Vallejo (CA) Fire Department (VFD). McArthur comes from the Yuma (AZ) Fire Department, where he was chief for 11 years. He has more than three decades of fire service experience. McArthur hopes to improve the VFD’s equipment and services through federal grants as well as by hiring more firefighters and encouraging diversity in the force, especially women. VFD’s last permanent chief was Paige Meyer, who left the position in March 2013.
