>> Members of the local Chinese community raised $42,000 to benefit the LOS ANGELES COUNTY (CA) FIRE DEPARTMENT (LACFD)’s fallen firefighter families, presenting two checks to LACFD Fire Chief Deputy John Tripp. The Master Won Ko Yee International Cultural Institute donated a $30,000 check, which will be equally shared by the families of fallen Fire Captain Ted Hall and Firefighter Specialist Arnie Quinones, who were killed on August 30, 2009 while fighting the Station Fire. The United Relief Committee donated a $12,000 check to benefit the Firefighter Memorial Committee to help the surviving family members of the Department’s other fallen firefighters. www.fire.lacounty.gov.

>> CHARLIE ROHRER has retired as chief of Edge Hill (PA) Fire Company (EHFC) after 15 years and his deputy chief, FRANK SCHUCK, will succeed him. Rohrer was a 37-year member of the EHFC and helped to ensure that Edge Hill and the other four Abington Township Fire Department companies collaborate through the accreditation process designed to enhance delivery of service to the community. Rorher was also responsible for acquiring three new trucks and overseeing an addition to the station. Schuck is a 24-year veteran of the EHFC. www.abingtonfd.org. (267) 536-1055.
