Jul. 12—Honolulu Fire Department firefighters doused a house fire in Nanakuli today that displaced five people and sent a 46-year-old female to the hospital in serious condition.

HFD said it received a 911 call at 8 :24 a.m. today for a building fire at 87-1621 Kanahele Road in Nanakuli and responded with eight units and approximately 24 personnel.

When firefighters arrived at 8 :31 a.m., they found a single-family home with visible smoke and flames. The blaze was reported under control within five minutes and was fully extinguished by 9 :02 a.m.

While all of the home’s occupants were able to exit the home safely, the woman and a 53-year-old male resident both suffered burn injuries. According to Honolulu Emergency Medical Services, the woman suffered burns to her face and arms and was later transported to a nearby hospital, while the man was burned on his hands and refused further treatment at the scene.

HFD said an investigator was called to determine the cause of the fire and estimate the amount of damage done to the home and its contents.
