NASFM new OLS administrator

Effective September 1, the administration of Operation Life Safety (OLS) was shifted from the International Association of Fire Chiefs to the National Association of State Fire Marshals (NASFM).

NASFM President Rocco Gabriele explains that the NASFM board of directors believes its resources “could enhance the OLS program and thus help both organizations achieve their respective missions.”

Chief Smokey Dyer, incoming IAFC president, says the IAFC will continue to contribute to OLS and expects to maintain a leadership role in guiding the organization. “The realignment of OLS made strategic sense, and the IAFC board of directors fully supports the transfer of administrative responsibilities to NASFM,” Dyer says. The move, he adds, will further the ongoing OLS mission while allowing the IAFC to address other emerging issues.

The new OLS headquarters address is Operation Life Safety, 721 S. Kirkman Road, Orlando, FL 32811, phone (407) 445-6429, fax (407) 299-8458.

OLS Director Patrick Coughlin will continue to provide advanced resources and technical support from his office in Shawnee Mission, Kansas. Dana Bies will continue to publish the OLS Newsletter. The NASFM will link the offices via a private Intranet connection.
