National Academy Offering Courses At Four Locations

Four courses will be offered in as many locations by the National Fire Academy this year. For the first time, the academy is offering one course specifically for the volunteer fire service— volunter fire service management. The other courses are arson detection, operational risk analysis, and pesticide fire and spill control, all of which were presented at last year’s cluster programs.

These courses, part of the academy’s outreach program, will be offered at the University of Kansas in Lawrence May 17 and 18; the Sheraton West Inn in Indianapolis June 28 and 29; Ursinus College, in Collegeville, Montgomery County, Pa., Aug. 2 and 3; and Portland State University in Portland, Ore., Sept. 13-14.

Students will pay a registration fee that has not yet been determined and they will be responsible for travel, lodging and meal costs.

Application to attend any of the courses must be made by writing to Outreach Program, National Fire Academy, Route 1, Box 10A, Emmitsburg, Md. 21727, or by phoning 301447-6555.
