National Celebrity Poker Shootout to benefit CA firefighting orgs

California State Firefighters’ Association and its training affiliate, Fire Services Training Institute, have been selected by the National Celebrity Poker Shootout as charity beneficiaries of the Shootout’s 2007-2008 California events. The series will comprise about a dozen events throughout California through June, 2008.

“This beneficial arrangement with the National Celebrity Poker Shootout will help CSFA and FSTI continue to help train California’s first responders in the techniques and strategies that will help preserve lives and property,” said John Dane CSFA Executive Director.

“Affiliation with America’s premier charity poker tour provides FSTI with needed national exposure in our first full year of operation,” said Mike Williams, president and CEO of FSTI.

In recent years poker has become a national craze. Hands are dealt on the Internet and televised poker tournaments draw huge audiences.

“Our sponsors and players are pleased and excited that California’s firefighters and emergency medical personnel – heroes all — will benefit from the Shootout’s events,” added National Event Director Michael Eakman who helped secure the beneficiary relationship with the National Celebrity Poker Shootout.
