Numerous firefighters have fallen this year after suffering heart attacks on the job. In late May, a Baltimore County (MD) firefighter died of a suspected heart attack during training, and the Birmingham (AL) fire chief died unexpectedly of a suspected massive heart attack. In April, a longtime West Virginia volunteer fire chief was also felled by an apparent heart attack.
