New Jersey Firefighter Suffers Medical Emergency, Dies

A 59-year-old firefighter died after suffering a medical emergency at a fire station in New Jersey this September.

The U.S. Fire Administration (USFA) reported that on September 17, Keasbey Deputy Chief Thomas J. Kolarick returned to the firehouse after a fire alarm response. Inside of the firehouse, Kolarick suffered a medical emergency and collapsed. He was subsequently transported to a local hospital where he remained hospitalized until the time of his passing on November 11.

He had 40 years of service.

To date, 72 firefighter fatalities have been reported to the USFA in 2015.
