Five firefighters from Albuquerque, NM, were just one number away from hitting the Mega Millions jackpot. Just minutes before sales closed, the group decided to try their luck. They hit five of the six numbers, netting about $10,000 of the $640-million prize.
They have decided to split the winnings amongst themselves and donate to a firefighters survival fund, local news reports. One of their firefighter brethern is currently fighting a brain tumor.
