NFAAA welcomes “active” members

NFA Alumni Association

Reference is made to Lieutenant James S. Cizek`s Letter to the Editor in the August 1998 issue in which he suggested creating a retired firefighters organization to promote the fire service.

The National Fire Academy Alumni Association (NFAAA) would welcome Cizek and all of his colleagues as members. Certainly, during his tenure as an active firefighter, he took a course sponsored by the National Fire Academy. Since the Academy marks its 25th anniversary this year, he has had ample opportunities, as did his colleagues, to take at least one course in Emmitsburg, Maryland, or through a state fire academy, regional fire school, or local training center. Any NFA course qualifies the individual to become an Alumni member. There are no dues or fees to join.

The Association wants to pursue just what Cizek wants to do–be an advocate for the fire service, specifically the NFA, at the grassroots level. We welcome members who want to stay “active” and be a part of making the American fire service the best. Send your name, address, phone/fax numbers, fire department affiliation, and date and title of the last NFA course taken via e-mail to NFA Alumni@aol.com, or fax the information to (703) 370-5886.
