According to a report from WCPO, nine people were hospitalized, including two Cincinnati (OH) Fire Department (CFD) crew members, after a College Hill condo complex fire early Tuesday monring.
The CFD was dispatched to the Hammond North Apartments on Hamilton Avenue Crews at around 1:10 a.m. for a fire alarm activation. They arrived to find heavy flames shooting from several first-floor units.
CFD officials said this was a three-alarm fire and additional crews were called to assist.
CFD crews brought the fire under control quickly. Investigators said at least one resident had injuries considered “serious,” but all those hospitalized are expected to recover.
Most people waited in their units while firefighters battled the flames, investigators said.
CFD Assistant Chief Matthew Flagler said most residents were able to shelter in place on upper floors.
CFD investigators said three units were effected, and a total of five or six units were damaged.
The cause of the incident is still under investigation.
