NJ Fire Caused by Surge Protector

Jersey City (NJ) – The Jersey City Fire Department extinguished a fire in a two-story home Tuesday morning that appeared to be caused by a faulty surge protector, Jersey City Fire Director Armando Roman said.

Firefighters responded to a call at 325 Virginia Ave. at 7:40 a.m. after a surge protector started sparking and caused second-floor bedroom to catch fire, Roman said.
