A house fire in Burlington County, New Jersey, killed a 7 year-old girl late Wednesday evening, according to a report from WTXF FOX 29 News in Philadelphia.
The report indicated that five children, the girl and four of her siblings, were home alone and sleeping when the fire began at approximately 11:30pm. The smell of smoke woke the children and some ran to a neighbors house for help. The oldest sibling, of an unknown age, returned to the house to save the trapped 7 year-old, but was overcome with smoke. After a search, firefighters found and removed the body of the trapped child, according to the report.
Firefighters faced extreme cold and water supply issues during the incident. A tanker truck was required to supply crews with water at the scene.
The incident is currently under investigation by police and fire officials.
