NTSB Urges Restricted Ambulance Speed Laws

The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) has called for states to consider restricting ambulance speed to 10 mph over posted limits, claiming that current laws permitting ambulances to exceed speed limits are “too general.”

The board also urged that driver ability, the patient’s condition, and vehicle, roadway and weather conditions be considered whenever ambulances are allowed to exceed speed limits.
