NV Child Rescued After Nearly Drowning

From Fox5Vegas.com:

LAS VEGAS (FOX5) – A two-year-old boy was found in a backyard pool at Mallard Avenue near Jones and US-95 at approximately 9:35 a.m. Sunday.

Las Vegas Fire & Rescue (LVFR) said a 13-year-old family member administered CPR on the toddler until first responders arrived on scene.

The toddler was given advanced life support by paramedics and was transported to University Medical Center Pediatrics Unit.

Family members said the child was still alive. It was unknown to them how long he was in the pool, LVFR said.

One of the leading reasons of accidental death for children less than four years old in Southern Nevada is water related incidents that result in drowning, according to LVFR.

An average of eight children drown each year in southern Nevada.
