Selden (NY) – A seven-year-old Long Island boy was named an honorary firefighter Tuesday after making a 911 call that potentially saved his mother’s life.

The boy, Michael Sitler, had just gotten home from the grocery store with his mother Friday and was playing games when his mom called him upstairs.

He found his mother collapsed on the floor and having a seizure. He said he panicked for a just a moment but remembered to call 911.

Dispatchers say Michael was calm and collected and stayed on the phone while emergency responders made their way to the house. He also gave them his father’s phone number so they could call them at work.
