Seven Utica (NY) firefighters and one police officer were honored Wednesday for saving a four-year-old girl from a burning building in February.
The rescuers were honored during a ceremony at city hall. CNY Central (http://bit.ly/13JoOjt) reported that the responders–Jeff Baranowski, Brian Bova, Jessica Caulkins, Fred DeCarlo, Captain Scott Ingersoll, Marc Manno and Lt. Dominick Meyers–were awarded certificates for the rescue.
The girl, Halima Haji, was removed and resuscitated after a February 2013 fire at Adrean Terrace. A YouTube video from witness Vasiliy Stadnick captures some footage from the incident scene (http://youtu.be/OZc0VplNKfQ). Firefighters performed numerous searches of the structure, and finally the victim was pulled from the second floor of the complex, per a report from the Observer Dispatch (http://bit.ly/13JoWiS).
