NY Firefighters Shot in Christmas Eve Attack Describe Ordeal

Two West Webster (NY) firefighters wounded in an attack that left two of their colleagues dead described being shot at while responding to the fire on Christmas Eve 2012. The gunman, who had set the fire as a trap to lure responders to the scene, ultimately ended up taking his own life after the deadly assault.

“We’re there to help people,” Joseph Hofstetter said in a media interview. “You don’t expect it in your hometown.”
