A toddler was killed in a raging mobile home fire in Plattsburgh, New York, early Wednesday.
Firefighters and state police responded to the fire after residents called complaining of smelling smoke inside the home, according to the Press Republican. The residents were able to flee the fire with a 4-month-old infant, however they were unable to remove a 22-month-old child, who remained inside the home and died.
Firefighters arrived to find fire coming out of every window and door of the home. One crew made entry to attempt to knock down the flames and conduct a search, but was driven back by the intense heat and flames. One firefighter fell through the buckling floor but escaped injury. Firefighters used two compressed air-foam systems to knock down the majority of the fire within minutes
