By Ashley Lopez

Firefighters with Ocala (FL) Fire Rescue (OFR) responded to reports of a stabbing last night at 1741 NW 7th Street, encountering two wounded individuals and a structure fire.

An OFR fire engine, a rescue unit, and a battalion chief were dispatched at 11:17 p.m. to Blitchton Station Apartments where a stabbing had been reported. OFR personnel arrived at 11:23 to find that the incident was more complex than a stab scene–there were multiple small fires inside the apartment.

Additional fire and rescue units were requested. Members with the fire apparatus on site completed a primary search of the apartment while the rescue crew assisted with the wounded individuals. The fires were contained to the room and unit of origin and extinguished within seven minutes. Neither the adjacent apartments or their residents were affected by the fire.

The wounded individuals were transferred to the hospital. The incident is under investigation by the Ocala Police Department. The cause of the fire is unknown at this time.
